Summer Favorites

Thursday, June 29, 2017

Untitled #44

On my recent trip to Chick-fil-a, I got to purchase their newest drink. And this was not the first time I purchased. Perhaps, when they first advertised the new drink it had my favorite things in a drink, so I had to go. And this drink inspired me to write a post about my summer favorites!
  1. Watermelon Mint Lemonade from Chick-fil-a: If you read the first paragraph thoroughly this is the drink I am describing. Watermelon, mint, and CFA lemonade all in one is literally heaven on earth! They are great drinks to take pictures with during summer. Speaking of that...
  2. Mango Black Tea Lemonade from Starbucks: Ah the last Starbucks trip before I graduated (and many more to come after that) I picked up this drink as a "pick me up" on the way to the movies with one of my high school friends. The taste is a bit mango-y with hints of black tea, but the sourness of the lemonade made this one of my favorite summer drinks.
  3. Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment: This was a graduation gift from church, and I was so excited to try this stuff. I have combo skin, but I am more on the dry side than the oily, so this was perfect! I fell in love as I apply it on my face because my face became soft to touch, and it was glowing (no highlighter needed). I incorporate this product into my routine, day and night, because your face needs to be moisturized, amirite? Overall, I will continue to use it until I find a product that works just as good or better.
  4. Milani Color Statement Matte Lipstick in (Dreamy or Naked): This color has hints of pink, but a pretty nude to compliment my skin tone as long as I have a darker lip pencil. For softer makeup looks, this is my go-to. Actually for summer this color is my new go-to.
  5. Old Navy Tie-Dye Watercolor Tee: Wow, this top is actually on sale at Old Navy. I am obsessed with tie dye print that resembles watercolor (if I am too extra at describing prints), and also the color blue (for editing awesome summer photos scroll down on this post ;-)). I wore this for the last day of being a high school student and another event that I can't think of. But this top looks really amazing with a choker, long necklace, white bottoms, earthly brown shoes. Who knows, I would definitely put this into a fourth of July outfit.
  6. White Skort: I am slowly falling in love with certain pieces from Stein Mart it isn't even funny. Fun tip, if you are looking for a mini skirt/skort, the petite section of the store has a few gems. Just pick the size that fits your liking, and voila! I wore this with the tee, and it has plenty of compliments. I fell in love with the gold accents in the front, and bam! I have a summer skort that will go with many cute things. I am thinking of getting a black see through top and a black cami underneath to go with it along with grungy black shoes.
  7. Easy A: Last, but certainly not least, I am a comedy and chick flick person when it comes to movies. Easy A puts the the two genres together. Trying not to spill the beans, but it is related to The Scarlet Letter, but in a modern twist: girl gets derided with a huge rumor that she was sexually active, then turns into a weird reputation. But for anyone who is in high school, PLEASE WATCH THIS MOVIE IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
And a bonus, here you have it:
  • If you want to improve your likes on IG, Twitter, and all that jazz, I suggest you hit up VSCO cam. If you like to pay for stuff of the phone (or waiting until it becomes free), I recommend getting a C1 filter. HB1 and A5 are also good alternatives. I like to keep the temperature on high, and selecting a blue shadows and highlights tint. For the highlight and shadows tints, I usually go on the higher side of the tint, but if it is necessary to add color I will go on with the highest.
These are all of my favorites, and I am excited to scope for more. Desi out!

4 Cute Back to School Outfit Ideas

Monday, August 15, 2016

I definitely love clothes shopping because after I take my new clothes home, I get bored and make cute outfits with them. With school coming up, I want to dress to impress and get a good education at the same time. Note that my dress code is bit different from everyone's, and all outfits are paired with a pair of elevated shoes, so feel free to pair with flats, too. But I can't resist these chunky heels, though. Here are some outfit ideas:

I am in love with the off the shoulder trend, so I like this bright yellow top with flared sleeves. To balance it out I paired the feminine, flowy top with a pair of ripped skinny jeans that I cuffed in order to show off a pair of cute shoes. If you intend to wear heels or some form of elevated shoes, I recommend to wear wedges, chunky heels, or low heel shoes that add height while being comfortable. Then an off the shoulder top is not complete without a necklace, so I chose this long one with the different color baubles.

This outfit is pretty edgy, but I balanced it out with another off the shoulder top because the trend is wonderful. Then, I added a black choker, black skinny legging type of pants, and a cute pair of black booties. The shoes reminded me of the shoes that you would wear as a child, but with an edgy, grown up vibe. A dark lipstick would be perfect.

This look was inspired by one of the Pinterest photos I pinned to my fashion inspiration board (follow me @thegorgbeautie on Pinterest). A striped tee is paired with a mini skirt with some cool detailing, like the lace up in this photo. Or I could really pair this with my red scalloped skirt. Valentine's Day, where are you??? Anyways, I paired these with the shoes from the first outfit and a tassel necklace to get that Parisian vibe.

The last outfit is not for school, but wearable for after school events, kickbacks, parties, date nights, etc. I have this cute tank top from Old Navy that looks like a tunic on me. If you have a pair of leggings, bell bottom or regular, then these shirts are great for covering your butt, which is crucial for not getting in trouble with the dress code. I put 5-inch heels on there, but if you want to make it wearable for school pair this outfit with a pair of sandals. If you have any issues with tank tops and shoulders in general, a kimono cardigan would fix the problem. Then I would complete this outfit with a long statement necklace.

Here you have it, four outfits that are cute. If you do want more outfits, let me know in the comments. I hope you get something from this. I'll see you later. Desi, out!

It's the next to the last home game of the season and football season is almost over. At least our school team won!

My outfit consisted of mostly orange, black, and white-- the school colors.
This sweater I made it myself. There are many ways to make a pocket. And also, I jazzed it up with a bow. You can get the fabric, shirt, and the fixings at craft stores. You can even even get the sweater at a craft store. I paired it with my white jeans, Sperry's, warm Old Navy puffer vest, and my orange bubble necklace I love to wear every Friday.
Here's the close up of the sweater.

My hair consisted of extensions and a bow. Yes, I've made the bow. Then, I curled it to doll up for home games.
It's been a blast being at the home games. Idk if I would go to basketball games, but making new friends was amazing! Do you like going to the games? What's your school spirit look lately?

Spirit Week!

Friday, October 4, 2013

I am excited to show my first outfits of the week on this blog right here! This week was my school's homecoming week! I posted all of the outfits I wore to school. I may mot be best dressed, but I've gotten the most classy, preppy, and fashionable spirit week ideas.
striped top:Forever 21, button down: JC Penney, jacket: its reeeally old, jeans: F21, shoes: Old Navy, necklace: Cato
Monday was mismatched day, so I became a genius and mismatched sweater(which was actually a long sleeve t-shirt) and button down prints. I paired those with my bright pink jeans 'cause I felt Barbie-ish. Then, I mismatch pairs of Old Navy pointed toe flats because I fell in love (I only got 3 pairs and counting!). Then, a bubble necklace got in the way. ;)

black top and vest: Justice, camo t-shirt: Target, jeans and chain necklace: F21, shoes: Payless, white bow: made it myself
Tuesday was camo day for me, and I had a hard time finding camo, even if it's on trend. I found this one at Target and layered it over a long sleeve t-shirt and under a military jacket. Black jeans and riding boots made it military-hunter look. I still want to look classy, so I decided to wear chain choker and pearls.

top: A'Gaci, skirt: Belk, belt: from a shirt, red shoes: yard sale, necklace: Old Navy, bow: made it myself
Wednesday was Disney character and the only thing in my close was for Snow White. I didn't have a red bow, so I put on my rose printed, along with red shoes, belt, and necklace. I'm pretty sure you've seen the blue tee before. The yellow skirt was added, too. Now, may I have a red delicious apple?
sweater: Plato's Closet, shirt: F21, jeans: Wal-Mart, shoes: Old Navy, necklace: Cato
Thursday was neon day and I only have it in the necklace. I colorblocked the colors, anyways. Here we go again with the sweater-button down combo again.
top: Plato's Closet, jeans: F21, belt: Target, shoes: Payless, necklace: Cato, bows: made them myself
Today was tiger pride day and I'm screaming orange, black, and white! I put my hair in a bun with black and zebra hairbows. I reeeally want a houndstooth top, and had the chance to wear it with my black skinnies. Look! I'm wearing sparkle shoes and a bubble necklace today!

These were the outfits. If you are having spirit week, what themes and outfits did you and your school planned? I can't wait to do a September Favorites!

It's Almost the Birthday Month!

Saturday, September 28, 2013

As September comes to a close, it's time to think about what I really wanted . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .for my birthday in October. I thought that I would share with you guys. It's the top 5 things I really wanted (according to my Wanelo). It doesn't have to be exact, but to give you an idea about what I'm thinking of on my wishlist. This is the Wanelo link.

5. Laptop Lunches: Ever since I started to eat healthy, I thought of making cool recipes to impress these fellow students at school. Despite my awesome (um, almost) cooking skills, I was so so so in love with bento lunches. With the Laptop Lunches, they have exciting recipes and the boxes are in bubbly colors. Here's my picks:

4.Sperry's: With 3 pairs, I'm ready for a 4th pair. I fell in love with the leopard print ones. Enough said.

3.Bean. Boots.: Yes, that emphasis was put because I was inspired by preppy IG accounts (including Sarahbelle93x), to own bean(or duck) boots. I know that costs a fortune, but let's hope Payless or Forever 21 start selling these for a waaaay less price.
2. Champ Bag: If you have watched my What's In My Purse Video (<-- Link), you've heard that I prefer smaller bags. The problem: I couldn't carry what I needed in that purse without spilling all my stuff. Plus, the phone takes too much space. Now, I'm going to invest in small makeup bags for everything in my purse and do weekly cleanouts (I hope you remind me of it). Speaking of cleanouts, I saw many what's in my bag videos and this one(<-- Link) sparks an idea to my mind: find an inexpensive Longchamp bag. I saw these two top beauties from Marley Lilly, Etsy(through the store,MONOGRAMSINC), and Tiny Tullip. Let's hope these don't sell out quick before the end of October.

1. Chevron Dresses.: This has to be my top pick because ever since I first saw it on a few friends of mine, I decided to jump on the bandwagon. They should be versatile and be worn all around from January-December. I got to be careful, they sell out very quick!
The jacket and shorts are old, but the top is from Old Navy and the shoes are Sperry's. I had a hair bow, and that's all.

Until next time, see you guys later!
xoxo, Desi.
