How to Wear Your Fall to Winter Essentials in a Preppy Way

Saturday, November 30, 2013

As I look over my YouTube post, I think I should clarify that more in a blog post, should I? If you missed the new video or wonder [what in the world is she talking about?], here it is, y'all!

Let's describe this in outfits. In the first outfit,
A blazer ALWAYS dress the outfit up in a business-y way. Even some stores sell them for under $20! This blazer, paired with a button down, comfty jeans/jeggings, and cute flats, is a total staple for the colder months. Jeggings, super skinny, any type of jean will work for a lot and the most universal staple EVER. I wore this for Thanksgiving dinner and I thought this was a good outfit (yeah don't judge me) to gain a little weight from eating lots of baked mac and cheese.

I look too chubby, lol, but this is truly adorable to wear during the winter. If you add layers of long sleeved tops (1-2 would be just fine), a puffer vest is your BFF for the cold season if a coat is a bit too much or if you want to try something different. Also, sweaters are becoming much cuter with styles, graphics, and more things you can think of, they're an excuse to wear them by themselves or as layers. Long boots are my favorite shoes to walk around. Plus, you can dress them up in cute socks, tights, or even legwarmers.

I can't get enough with button-downs, even if they are paired with skirts (psst. I am wearing sheer tights so you won't drop your jaws). They are actually a year round preppy essential, and with varieties of how you wear 'em they are versatile.

This is a sparkly top, ladies and gentlemen. Like blazers, they dress up boring outfits. They are the "I'm Confident" tops that will make a bad morning better. Try not to overdo sparkle from head to toe, but no winter outfit is cute with out them!

So this is an excuse to post the same outfit again, but 3/4-long sleeve dresses are ideal and fun to accessorize. Since this photo was taken on a day there was warmer weather I did not wear tights, but I recommend to wear leggings/tights with 'em. They look so cute with riding boots. You'll never know if I'm going to do that idea. Let's see ;)
Scarves are essential to keep your neck warm. They are a good excuse to bring out your dangly earrings ar they can look good with pearls. They provide a feel from statement necklaces if you don't feel like wearing them. If the scarf is not too much with a any necklaces, I think they would look cute together, too! I  would love a monogrammed chevron scarf right now!

Also, plaid skirts are adorable for the cold season, too! I know they are a tad too much for my budget, but the plaid skirts from Preppy Pink Shop, a store on Etsy, makes good plaid skirts for the season and inspire me to make my own! Sweaters, tights, and flats/heels would make a good outfit together with plaid skirts.

Also check out Proper Essential's page for cute bracelets that I mentioned at the end of the video.

A Very Late Birthday Post

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Well, thanks to the people who said happy birthday to me 2 weeks ago. It was surely a blessing to be 14. Yes and I loved my goodies. Here is my birthday outfit.
I am wearing a dress from my birthday haul from Gap. The dress was paired with my flats from Old Navy and necklace from Cato. Since I felt fabulous that day, I added my extensions which were applied by a lot of bobby pins to let them stay in my hair. I did have a need to invest in the hair extension clips at Sally's, though. Sassy pearls finished and polished off the outfit.
For my best outfits so far this November..........
I had the best shopping experience for the few days before my birthday. So....... I am doing a October favorites, loves, and interests video. And an extra surprise,
I was a princess for Halloween. I hope y'all have a fun November!
xoxo, Desi
